Gwynneth (or Gwyn), was raised in a loving Christian home and immigrated to Hay River, NWT at age 8 from Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) Africa. Her father, a missionary doctor, jokingly stated this was going ‘out of the frying pan and into the freezer’. Growing up in Edmonton, Gwyn dedicated her life to Christ at age 19 when she felt the miraculous touch of the Holy Spirit on her life. She and her husband, Rick, spent 12 years in Canada’s northern regions working in the municipal and community development sectors before settling in Cochrane with their two daughters in 1997. After Gwyn lost her husband in a tragic accident in 2011, she committed herself to serving her church family who had surrounded her with so much love at that difficult time. Gwyn has served in a variety of volunteer positions within the church and community following her passion to enhance community connection and belonging. She has volunteered in children’s and women’s ministry, hospitality, Grief Share, prayer team, bible study facilitation, the 2016 building renovation committee and the pastoral search committee. Gwyn’s experience in the not-for-profit sector serving on a variety of committees and boards prepares her as she follows the Lord’s leading and her prayer of “Lord, here I am, use me for your glory”.
